MYOG

Make Your Own Gear

On the Te Araroa trail I began to meet hikers who were sporting homemade gear, and it was inevitable that I was going to try my hand at it myself. A backpack was the first thing I needed replacing and as such the very first Make Your Own Gear project! I now have a range of gear items I want to make myself, including a tent, waterproofs and fanny pack. I will add any new projects to this space.

Kosumo : A 40-45l Ultralight Backpack

I posted a video on YouTube which follows the construction of this backpack, my first MYOG project. It’s my first video (and thus a little awkward) but it shows me tackle any changes and issues I encountered along the way.

In addition, I’ve written two blogs about the design, build and review of this backpack. These include more insight into the initial design stage (with two prototypes) and highlights everything that went well or didn’t go as planned.
